Q: Please provide a brief description of parenting responsibilities/home situation.
A: My wife and I are both professionals with challenging careers, which we attempt to balance with three young children (currently two, five and seven).

Q: Please detail any family friendly initiatives that have been used and how these have helped to achieve a balance between work and home.
A: In 2022 I took paternity leave with my third child, Zoe, while my wife went back to work early.

Q: What advice would you give for anyone who is considering making use of family friendly offerings?
A: I had expectations of what 4 months “off” would be; I thought I’d be able to study and go to the park all the time, or even go to the gym, so I tried to put a plan in place each day. Instead, I was challenged with general baby chaos, casual sexist assumptions from strangers in the park, and a set of frustrations I had never imagined.
My expectations were a little off, but that’s not to say I was ever disappointed. I’m much happier with what actually happened, and with what it lead to; I learned to be even more appreciative of what my wife has done for our family, and my two boys learned that its normal for a dad to take time off to look after a child – something I hope my sons would do if they have the opportunity later in life.

Q: Why do you feel that Man Group is a supportive environment for working parents?
A: I really enjoyed this early time with Zoe and even the moments of chaos, and I would fully encourage anyone considering it to seize this amazing opportunity that Man offers.
